Hank Pelletier, a 96-year-old Cape Coral golf champ, started playing golf at the age of 12. Now, he continues to play three times per week, still entering and winning tournaments 84 years later.

After his wife of 72 years passed away in September, Hank knew he needed to keep busy and keep moving. Golf is his perfect outlet.

Hank’s most recent win was at the Palmetto-Pine Country Club, where he shot an 83 from the members’ box and blew away everyone in attendance. Shooting 13 below your age is no easy feat, but with how much Hank practices and how passionate he is, it’s no surprise he accomplished it.

Playing with his friend Thomas Carrasquillo is a weekly routine. Thomas refers to Hank as a “machine”, calling him “Mr. 150. 150, 150, 150. He’s on the green. One putt. Par. And he’s gone”, according to Wink News’ video.

Hank’s secret? Enjoy what you’re doing. Without that enjoyment, you won’t keep going.

Golf is a great way to keep moving, get fresh air, challenge yourself, and make new friends. No matter your age, there is something out there for everyone. The benefits of finding an activity you love can help you in more ways than you think - maybe even 84 years later.
