Cape Coral City Council held discussions in late February surrounding the Seven Islands Project.

Possibilities for what the Seven Islands Project could entail include a hotel, homes, and a marina. If given the go-ahead, construction would begin by Forest Development on the project that could take nearly 10 years to complete, according to Wink News.

The discussions began in 2015 and the 48 acres have been a topic of debate ever since. With the goal of bringing more people to the largest city in Southwest Florida, this could propel Cape Coral’s economy even further.

“This project is going to generate over the life over 10,000 jobs, in terms of the construction and development, the project’s investment is estimated to be just under two 3rds of a billion dollars, and the economic impact of that is probably approaching close to $2 billion over that period of time,” said the developer.

“I think it’s going to be a fabulous project when it’s completed. For the next 10 years, I look forward to the project moving along accordingly like you have lined in your chart here. I think at the end we will have a phenomenal destination vacation for not only residents but for visitors in our city,” said Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter.

If Cape Coral City Council decides to move forward, this long-term project will officially begin.
