Besides providing a ton of books, periodicals, and media, public libraries also offer events and programs that educate and inspire. Cape Coral provides two public libraries. The Northwest Regional Library is located at 519 Chiquita Blvd. N., Cape Coral, 239-533-4700, and the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library is located at 921 S.W. 39th Terrace, Cape Coral, 239-533-4500. Both locations offer public computers, Wi-Fi, study rooms, meeting rooms, print and scan capabilities, and more. For more information, visit leegov.com. The summer months offer great activities for the young ones.

“The libraries in Cape Coral will be kicking off the annual Summer Reading Program for all ages starting on June 1, which includes a reading and kindness challenge and a free book for every child and teen,” says Melissa Baker, Manager of Programming and Community Outreach, Lee County Library System.

Plus, participants in the reading program will have a chance to win grand prize baskets filled with award-winning books and other giveaways. Check monthly calendar for Lee County Library System branches event times and dates at: leelibrary.librarymarket.com

Additionally, special events will occur at Lee County branches all summer.

“The Northwest Regional Library will have a Summer Reading Kick-Off Party with games and activities for kids and teens at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 1. The Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library kicks off their summer party at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, with the book character Curious George, crafts, fun activities, and teen activities in the teen zone,” adds Baker.

Both Cape Coral locations offer numerous programs to delight and inspire.

“Upcoming library events include magic shows, animal encounters, live theater performances, book discussions, movies, arts and crafts, storytelling, and more,” adds Baker.

All programs are free to the public but may require advanced registration due to limited space. Get started planning your summer of fun at leelibrary.net/summer.
