Pretty Popular Popcorn

Feb 03, 2025 08:00AM ● By Ann Marie O’Phelan

We all know about the hot buttered popcorn you can get at the movie theater, caramel popcorn that grandma makes over the holidays, or white cheddar popcorn you can buy in bags. However, there is a more extensive set of popcorn flavors that you may have never heard about or tried, such as Buffalo Ranch, Beer Cheese, Cinnamon, Caramel Pecan, and Dill Pickle—all can be found at Wild About Popcorn in Cape Coral.

Owner Julie Caracappa adds that other popular, innovative flavors are, “Jalapeno Cheddar, Cape Coral Mix (50% cheddar/50% caramel), Cinnamon Toast, Sea Salt Caramel, and Sour Patch.”  Of course, you can find old-fashioned classics like Buttery, Kettle Corn, and White Cheddar. What’s new on the popcorn menu? Look for Sweet Chili and Caramel Cashew.

What makes their popcorn outstanding is that every 100 recipes they have is their very own recipe developed from scratch. “We start with the best popcorn kernels money can buy, then we blend herbs, spices, butter, cheeses, sugars, candies, cookies, and more, by hand to create delicious flavors. And we do so with a process that ensures a consistent, repeatable result,” adds Caracappa, whose husband, Ed, assists in the operation.

A few more kernels: Every batch is tasted to ensure it meets their crazy high standards. There are generally about 45 available flavors, some of which are rotated throughout the year. The popcorn is sold in individual pouches, bundles, and sharing tins.

Caracappa’s previous passion was working as a pediatric emergency room nurse, and popcorn is something she dreamed of to bring back some of life’s delights. “At Wild About Popcorn, we are on a mission to bring joy and happiness and put smiles on faces through our delicious popcorn creations. We believe that life's simplest pleasures can create the most profound moments of happiness,” explains Caracappa.

Wild About Popcorn, Inc., is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Look for the bright green and yellow building with big bursts of popcorn.  Located 1.4 miles North of Veterans Parkway and 2.9 miles South of Pine Island Road, 1311 Del Prado Blvd S., Suite D, Cape Coral, 239-829-0527, wildaboutpopcorn.com
