Cape Coral, FL 33993
This preserve is comprised of five land parcels acquired between 1999 and 2006, located in northwest Lee County in Cape Coral. Although there is no marked trail system, public access is permitted using an entrance gate across from Cape Coral Fire Department Station 7 on the 3900 Block of Burnt Store Road North. The main plant communities are mesic flatwoods, hammock and wet flatwoods.
Significant portions of the wetland and upland habitat of this preserve have been disturbed from previous agricultural uses, off-road vehicle activity, and the spread of invasive exotic plant species. Efforts to restore this habitat will benefit a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians that rely on this habitat to survive.
Several restoration projects have been completed at this preserve, including a hydrological restoration on the central and southern sections of the preserve to enhance sheet flow for wetland areas.
