Alliance for the Arts seeking submissions

Artists near Cape Coral have the opportunity to have their work put on display as part of ‘Fired Up: A Juried Exhibit’, sponsored by the Alliance for the Arts. The theme of the exhibition is heat or fire. Artworks should either be inspired by fire or made with the use of heat, such as welded works, glassware, or ceramics. Each artist is allowed to submit up to three pieces of work. The deadline for submission is August 19 and each entry should be submitted online through ArtinLee.org. Art galleries and organizations seeking submissions from local artists can use flyers to get the word out about their submission guidelines and deadlines. Artists hoping to submit to the Alliance for the Arts can also find full details on the organization’s website. Lee Brotherton will be the juror in charge of judging the submissions this year. Brotherton has spent more than 20 years as in the arts, including time spent teaching elementary students, working in an art museum, and serving as an art gallery manager. She has also spent the past two decades creating pottery and sculpted items, several of which are in museums or private collections. The art exhibit is scheduled to open on September 8, with a celebration from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Brotherton will give out awards to artists during the celebration, which range from $300 for ‘Best in Show’, to $75 for third place.
